Chin Phearum

Chin Phearum (ជិន ភារុំ), 45, is the founder and owner of Tonle FM, a radio station based in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Kampong Cham. Born in Kandal province, Phearum finished high school in 1992. For six years, he self-trained and took classes to learn computer skills, accounting and marketing. He has worked as marketing director, school director, restaurant manager and business analyst for different companies and schools, and took a vocational training in Thailand for a few years in Marketing Brand Ads.

In 1998, he founded the advertising agency PA SERVICES Co., Ltd. and the Priority Group Advertising Agency. The latter specializes in advertising, PR and event, media management. Its main goal was to broaden the range of PA’s clients. His family fully owns the business, but he shares benefits with his employees.

In 2005, he founded the Tonle Group, which runs Tonle FM in Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and Kampong Cham. He claims that he started the radio stations to share knowledge and education to people and use it as a platform to promote and support his other businesses.

According Phearum, he also invested in general trade and real estate, but he declines to give details information about the business. He now plays a role as an adviser to company and business he owns, while the operation is run by his staff. Phearum currently lives in Phnom Penh with his wife, Chum Rachana who is director of Tonle Group, and their 3 children.
